How is Prominent Ear Aesthetics Performed?

Prominent ear operation is performed under general anesthesia for children and local anesthesia for adults. With a thin incision formed behind the ear, the cartilage tissue is operated and the ear is brought closer to the head. The operation lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. After the surgery, a sports band that covers the ears is used day and night for 2 weeks, and only at night for the following 2 weeks.

Will I Have Pain After the Surgery?

In the first days after the surgery, you may feel mild pain due to the swelling in the ears. This pain is normal and will decrease in the following days. After the first week, there is no pain.

Prominent ear surgery is not an operation that requires hospitalization; however, we may consider it necessary for our patient to spend the first night in the hospital, depending on his/her condition and desire. There is no bath for the first 3 days and a regular dressing is applied to the area stitched behind the ear for 2 weeks. These stitches will dissolve automatically, and the swelling will disappear after 1-2 weeks.

What If There is Scar Left in My Ear?

As of the 6th month after the operation, the thin incision formed behind the ear begins to become invisible; because this skin is very thin. For the 6 months, the existing incision will not be visible as it will remain behind the ear.

What Should I Pay Attention To After Prominent Ear Aesthetic Surgery?

• Make sure you rest at home for 3 days.
• Wearing the sports band for the recommended time intervals and duration is an important necessity.
• The dressings we recommend should not be ignored.
• For about 2 months, movements that will cause the ear to fold and curl should be avoided.
